Every time a user logs into Horilla CRM, the first thing they see is the home page. By default, this page provides a quick overview of key CRM data — total records across modules, charts, and summary lists — so users can immediately understand the current state of the CRM without navigating elsewhere.

While this default view works well as a general starting point, different users often have different priorities. A sales manager may want to see pipeline performance immediately after logging in, while a campaign manager may prefer campaign conversion metrics. Horilla CRM allows users with dashboard permissions to replace the default home page with any dashboard they create themselves.

This guide explains how to set up a custom dashboard as your default home page.

The Default Home Page

When a user logs in for the first time, the home page displays a system-level CRM overview. This includes:

  • A welcome message with the user’s name
  • Summary cards displaying total counts for Accounts, Campaigns, Contacts, Leads, and Opportunities
  • Charts and record lists showing CRM activity across modules
  • A time period selector at the top-right for filtering displayed data

This default page is the same for all users unless they configure a custom dashboard as their home page.

Navigating to the Dashboards Section

To change the default home page, navigate to the Dashboards section. You can access it in two different ways.

From the Home Page

Click the View All Dashboards button at the top-right of the default home page.

From the Sidebar

Click the Analytics icon from the left sidebar, then choose Dashboards.

Both methods open the Dashboards list view.

The Dashboards List

The Dashboards list displays all dashboards available to the user. Each row includes:

  • Dashboard Name
  • Description (optional)
  • Folder
  • Is the default toggle
  • Actions

A sidebar on the right side of the page provides quick access to:

  • All Dashboards
  • All Folders
  • Favourites

At the top-right corner of the page, two buttons are available:

  • New Dashboard — Create a dashboard
  • New Folder — Organise dashboards into folders

Creating a Dashboard for Use as the Home Page

If no dashboard exists yet, create one by clicking New Dashboard. After creating it, open the dashboard and add the components you want displayed when logging in.

Dashboards can contain:

  • Charts
  • KPI cards
  • Record summaries
  • Lists
  • Other analytics components

This enables users to build a workspace customized to their responsibilities and priorities..

This guide focuses only on setting a dashboard as the home page. Dashboard creation and component configuration are covered separately.

Setting a Dashboard as Your Default Home Page

Once the dashboard is ready, return to the Dashboards list.

Find the dashboard you want to set as your home page. In the Is Default column, enable the toggle for that dashboard.

After enabling the toggle:

  • The selected dashboard becomes your personal default home page
  • Navigating to the home page opens that dashboard directly
  • The system overview is no longer shown to you by default

What Changes After Setting a Default

After enabling the Is Default toggle:

  • Your home page displays the selected dashboard and its components
  • The system-level overview has been replaced for your account
  • Other users continue seeing the standard overview unless they set their own default dashboard
  • All dashboards and the original overview remain accessible through the Analytics section

The default home page setting is personal to each user and does not affect anyone else.

Changing the Default Home Dashboard

You can update the default home page anytime by selecting a different dashboard.

To switch to another dashboard:

  1. Open the Dashboards list
  2. Find the new dashboard
  3. Enable its Is Default toggle

Only one dashboard can be the default at a time. Enabling a new default automatically removes the previous one.

Key Points to Remember

  • The default home page initially shows a system-wide CRM overview
  • Users with dashboard permissions can set a custom home page
  • Dashboards can be accessed either from the home page or through the Analytics section in the sidebar.
  • Enabling the Is Default toggle makes a dashboard the personal home page
  • This setting applies only to the currently logged-in user.
  • The default dashboard can be changed anytime

Setting a custom default home page in Horilla CRM helps users start their workday with the information most relevant to them. Instead of opening a generic overview, users can immediately access the dashboards, charts, and metrics that support their role and workflow. With a simple toggle in the Dashboards list, any dashboard can become a personalized landing page for a faster and more focused CRM experience.
