Managing hundreds or even thousands of CRM records can quickly become overwhelming if you can’t organize them effectively. Whether you’re tracking leads, contacts, opportunities, or accounts, Horilla CRM’s powerful List View sorting feature helps you find the right records faster and work more efficiently.
With just a click, you can sort records by any visible column. Need more control? Horilla CRM also supports multi-column sorting, allowing you to organize records using multiple criteria at the same time.
In this guide, we’ll explore how sorting works in Horilla CRM and how you can use it to create cleaner, more meaningful record views.
Why Sorting Matters
As your CRM grows, records naturally become harder to browse. Sorting helps you:
- Find the newest records instantly
- Prioritize high-value opportunities
- Organize contacts alphabetically
- Group records by status or owner
- Create structured views for sales and support teams
Instead of manually searching through pages of data, sorting brings the records you need right to the top.
Sorting Records with a Single Click
Every Horilla CRM List View includes sortable columns such as:
- Name
- Company
- Status
- Created Date
- Assigned To
- Deal Value
- Lead Score
To sort records:
- Open any CRM List View.
- Locate the column you want to sort.
- Click the column header.
The records will immediately be reordered based on that field.
Sort Directions
Horilla CRM supports three sorting states:
| Icon | Meaning |
| ↕ | Not sorted |
| ▲ | Ascending order |
| ▼ | Descending order |
Each click cycles through these sorting modes.

Example: View Your Latest Leads First
If you want to see the most recently created leads:
- Open the Leads List View.
- Click the Created Date column.
- Click again to switch to descending order.
The newest leads will now appear at the top of the list.

Multi-Column Sorting in Horilla CRM
Sometimes one sort of condition isn’t enough.
For example:
- Group records by Status
- Then sort each group by Created Date
- Then sort the records within that date by Owner
This is where Multi-Column Sorting becomes useful.

How Multi-Column Sorting Works
Horilla CRM allows you to combine multiple sort criteria using the Shift key.
Step 1: Apply the Primary Sort
Click a column normally.
Example:
Status → Descending
This becomes your primary sort.

Step 2: Add a Secondary Sort
Hold Shift and click another column.
Example:
Shift + Click Created Date
Now records are sorted:
- By Status
- Then by Created Date

Step 3: Add Additional Sort Levels
Continue holding Shift and click more columns.
Example:
- Status
- Created Date
- Title
Each new column becomes another sorting level.

Understanding Sort Priority
When multiple columns are active:
- First selected column = Highest Priority
- Second selected column = Secondary Priority
- Third selected column = Third Priority
For example:
Status → Created Date → Title
Horilla CRM first groups records by Status, then sorts each group by Created Date, and finally sorts matching records by Assigned To.
Removing a Sort
To remove a sort:
- Click the column until it returns to ↕
- Or Shift+Click an active multi-sort column until it is removed
The remaining sort columns continue to work normally.

Sorting is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to organize your CRM data. Whether you’re reviewing newly created leads, tracking high-value opportunities, managing contacts, or monitoring records by status, Horilla CRM’s List View sorting helps you find the information you need faster and work more efficiently.
With support for both single-column and multi-column sorting, you can create meaningful record arrangements that match your workflow. The ability to combine sorting with filters, customized columns, and shareable URLs makes it even easier for teams to collaborate and stay focused on the right records at the right time.
Best of all, sorting requires no setup or configuration. A few clicks are all it takes to transform a cluttered list into a well-organized workspace tailored to your needs. As your CRM data grows, mastering List View sorting will help you navigate records more effectively, improve productivity, and make better-informed decisions every day.
