Biometric Attendance Activation in Horilla HRMS

Horilla HRMS now includes the ability to activate or deactivate biometric attendance tracking. To activate the biometric module, simply click on the settings icon in the navigation bar. This will take you to a comprehensive settings page where you’ll find various modules such as ‘Employee,’ ‘Recruitment,’ ‘Attendance,’ and more. To enable or disable biometric attendance, navigate to the ‘Attendance’ menu, and you’ll see a submenu for ‘Biometric Attendance.’ Selecting this option will bring up a dedicated page where you can seamlessly activate the biometric module with the Horilla HRMS system.

Once the ‘Biometric Attendance’ feature is activated, Horilla HRMS adds a new submenu called ‘Biometric Devices’ under the ‘Attendance’ section in the web page sidebar. By clicking on this submenu, you’ll be directed to a page where you can integrate your biometric devices with Horilla, streamlining the process of connecting your devices to the system.

Guide to Adding a Biometric Device in Horilla HRMS

Adding a New Biometric Device

  • On the Biometric Devices page, click the “Add” button located in the top-right corner.
  • A modal window titled “Add Biometric Device” will appear.

Fill in the Device Details

  • Device Name: Enter a unique name for the biometric device. This will help you easily identify the device later.
  • Device Type: Choose the type of device from the dropdown list. The available options are:
  • ZKTeco Biometric
  • Anviz Biometric
  • Matrix COSEC Biometric
  • Additional Fields Based on Device Type:

Depending on the device type you select, additional fields may appear:

ZKTeco Biometric & Matrix COSEC Biometric:

  • You will need to provide the IP address (Machine IP) and Port number (Port).
  • For Matrix COSEC Biometric, additional fields for Username and Password are required.

Ethernet Settings In ZKTeco :

To configure the Ethernet settings on the device, start by pressing [M/OK] and navigating to COMM. > Ethernet. This will take you to the Ethernet configuration screen. Below are the default settings, which you can modify based on your network requirements:

  • IP Address: 192.168.6.192
  • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Gateway: 192.168.6.254
  • DNS: 0.0.0.0
  • TCP COMM. Port: 4370

Please note, that if you enable DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), the IP address will be automatically assigned by the server, making manual IP configuration unavailable. Additionally, you can choose whether or not to display the network icon in the status bar.

Ethernet Settings In Matrix COSEC:

  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • In the browser’s address bar, type the Matrix COSEC IP address (default is http://192.168.50.1) and press Enter.
  • The Login page will appear.
  • Choose Admin as the User Name. Since this is the first login, you’ll be prompted to create a password. Enter your chosen password in the New Password field and confirm it by re-entering it in the Confirm Password field.
  • Click on Login to proceed.

Click on the Settings menu from the sidebar. Under this menu, you’ll find submenus for LAN Settings and Wi-Fi Settings. By clicking on either of these submenus, you can change the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Preferred DNS, Alternate DNS, and MAC Address based on your preference.

Anviz Biometric:

  • You will need to fill in the Request ID, API URL, API Key, and API Secret.

To Access  API Credentials In Anviz Cloud :

To retrieve your API credentials for the Anviz biometric system, follow these steps:

  1. Login: Access the Anviz CrossChex Cloud platform by logging into your account.
  2. Navigate to Developer Mode:
    a) On the left-hand sidebar, click on the Developer Mode section.
    b) Under Developer Mode, select Cloud API.
  3. API URL and Credentials:
    a) The Cloud API section will display the necessary credentials for API integration.
    b) API URL: The base URL for API requests is provided here. The default URL is https://api.us.crosschexcloud.com/.
    c) API Key: Copy the API Key shown in the field.
    d) API Secret: Copy the API Secret shown in the field.
  4. Generate Token:

The documentation will also guide you on how to POST a request to generate a token. Ensure that you include required headers such as nameSpace, nameAction, version, requestId, and timestamp.

Save the Device

  • After filling in all the necessary details, click the “Save” button.
  • The system will validate the information. If there are any issues (e.g., missing fields), you will be prompted to correct them.
  • Once the device is successfully added, it will appear in the list of Biometric Devices.

Guide to Managing a Biometric Device in Horilla HRMS

  • Testing the Device Connection: Use the “Test” button to verify that the device is properly configured and can communicate with the system.
  • Schedule the Device: Schedule in Horilla HRMS allows automated attendance data fetching at specified intervals, ensuring seamless and timely integration of attendance records from your biometric devices.
  • Employees In Biometric Device:  The “Employee” option in the Horilla HRMS Biometric Management module displays a list of employees registered in the biometric device, synced with the Horilla system. From this page, you can add new employees to the biometric device or remove existing ones using the “Add” and “Delete” options. The fingerprint column visually indicates the registered fingerprints, with green highlighting the successfully registered ones. This feature supports both ZKTeco and Matrix COSEC biometric devices, making employee management straightforward and efficient.
  • Live Capture Mode: The “Activate live capture mode” feature in the Horilla HRMS allows ZKTeco devices to support real-time attendance tracking. When enabled, this option lets you monitor employee punch-ins and punch-outs instantly, provided there’s a stable network connection, ensuring accurate and timely attendance data
