Easy Leave Type Creation – With Horilla HRMS, admins can quickly set up different leave types according to the organization’s policies. Whether it’s annual leave, sick leave, or any custom leave category, the software allows for straightforward configuration with just a few clicks.
This is the leave type main view. Admin can find the view by clicking the Leave type submenu (marked as 2) under the main menu Leave (marked as 1). We have the card view of every leave type and have a detailed view by clicking the card. We have the three-dot option for editing, deleting, and assigning to employees from the same page of the leave type view.
Now we can check how to create the leave type, At the right corner there is a create button, and the form will appear while clicking that create button.
This is the form for creating a leave type. Here, we can see so many options; let’s go through the form.
The first field is the name of the leave type; we can choose an icon and color for the leave type. We have paid and unpaid leave types that we can set in the next field. How many days are available in the leave type can be mentioned in the following field named total field.
Next, there is a toggle button named Reset, if it is enabled, two more extra fields will appear: Reset Period and Carryforward Type. The reset Period can be set as Yearly, Monthly, and Weekly, which is the time at which the leave type should be reset. The leave type can have a carryforward option, with the choice to carry forward leave with an expiration. You can also set an expiration date or specify the number of days until it expires.

Require Approval – Enable this button if leave requests for this type need approval.
Require Attachment – Enable this field if a leave request for this type needs an attachment.
Exclude Company Holidays – If we enable the field, this leave type will exclude the company holidays, which means the leave type created using the leave type will not count the company holidays.
Eg: If we enable the field and request leave, during the company leave days the requested days will be calculated by excluding the company leave days.
Exclude Holidays – It works almost the same as the above. Here, the leave request will exclude the holidays that are added to our software.
Is Encashable – This feature is for making the leave type encashable. If any leaves are available can use it in the payroll section for encashment.
Once all the fields and options are set according to your organization’s policy, click the Save or Create button. Your new leave type is now ready for use, and it can be easily assigned to employees from the same interface.
