How to Apply Leave from the Dashboard in Horilla

Managing leave applications is one of the most frequent tasks for employees in any HRMS. In Horilla, the process has been simplified so that you can quickly apply for leave directly from the dashboard without navigating multiple menus. Here’s a step-by-step approach to help you apply for leave quickly and easily.

Step 1: Log in to Horilla

Once you log in to your Horilla account, you’ll land on the Dashboard. This is the central place where you can view company updates, charts, birthdays, announcements, and quick actions.

Step 2: Locate the Quick Action Menu

On the right side of the dashboard, there is a floating quick actions menu. Clicking on the button reveals several red icons for quick actions

The Leave Apply icon (calendar with a checkmark, highlighted in the screenshot) allows you to quickly submit a leave request.

Step 3: Click on the Leave Apply Icon

Click the Leave Apply icon from the quick action bar..

A leave request form will open up where you can enter your leave details.

Step 4: Fill in the Leave Request Form

In the leave form, you will need to provide the following details:

  • Employee – The employee’s name is automatically selected. If you have admin access, you can apply on behalf of another employee.
  • Leave Type – Choose the type of leave (Casual Leave, Sick Leave, Earned Leave, etc.).
  • Start Date & End Date – Select the duration of your leave.
  • Start Date Breakdown / End Date Breakdown – Choose whether it’s a Full-Day or Half-Day leave.
  • Attachment – Upload supporting documents if required (e.g., a medical certificate).
  • Description – Enter a brief description of your leave request.

Once you’ve completed all of the fields, click the Save button to send your leave request.

Once you’ve filled out all the necessary information:

Click Submit to submit your request to HR/Manager for approval.

You can track the status of your leave (Pending, Approved, or Rejected) from the Leave Module or directly through notifications.
