Managing partner relationships is a critical part of growing your business ecosystem. Horilla CRM provides a dedicated Partner Account Relationship feature that allows you to link accounts together, assign partner roles, and track who is working with whom—all within the CRM’s Account module.

This guide walks you through how to set up partner roles, mark accounts as partners, and manage partner account relationships from within an account record.

What Is a Partner Account Relationship?

A Partner Account Relationship in Horilla CRM links two account records together through a defined role. For example, you can associate a reseller account with a vendor account or link a technology partner to a customer account. This gives your team clear visibility into which partners are involved with which accounts and in what capacity.

Step 1: Create Partner Roles

Before creating partner relationships, define the partner roles your organization uses.

Navigate to Partner Roles

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open the Partner Roles section under CRM configuration.

Create a New Partner Role

  1. Click Create.
  2. Complete the following fields:

Partner Role Name
Enter a name for the role, such as:

  • Reseller
  • Technology Partner
  • Installation Partner
  • Consulting Partner

Description
Optionally provide a brief explanation of the role.

  1. Click Save.

The role will now appear in the Partner Roles list and can be used when creating partner account relationships.

Step 2: Add a Partner Account Relationship

Once partner roles have been created and partner accounts have been identified, you can create relationships between accounts.

Open the Primary Account

  1. Navigate to the account that you want to associate with a partner.
  2. Open the account detail page.

Open the Partners Tab

Scroll to the Related Lists section and select the Partners tab.

Create a New Relationship

  1. Click Add Partner.
  2. Complete the following fields:

Partner

Select the partner account from the dropdown list.

Only accounts marked as partners will be available for selection.

Role

Choose the partner role that describes the relationship.

Account

This field is automatically populated with the current account.

  1. Click Save.

The relationship will now appear in the Partners tab.

Step 3: Edit a Partner Account Relationship

Partner relationships can be updated whenever partnership details change.

Update a Relationship

  1. Open the account record.
  2. Navigate to the Partners tab.
  3. Locate the relationship you want to update.
  4. Click the Edit icon.
  1. Modify the required information.
  2. Click Save.

The updated details will immediately be reflected in the Partners list.

Step 4: Delete a Partner Account Relationship

If a partnership is no longer active, the relationship can be removed.

Remove a Relationship

  1. Open the account record.
  2. Navigate to the Partners tab.
  3. Locate the relationship you want to remove.
  4. Click the Delete icon.
  5. Confirm the deletion.

The relationship will be removed from the account.

Note: Deleting a partner relationship only removes the association between the two accounts. Neither account record is deleted. If historical partnership information is important, consider updating the role or retaining the relationship rather than deleting it.

Benefits of Using Partner Account Relationships
