When people use an HR system day in and day out, it’s not just what it does that matters but also what it looks like.

A pleasant interface can make things easier to use. An unpleasant interface can make things harder to use.

That’s why we built the Theme Manager in Horilla HRMS. It’s to give you an easy way to change what your HR system looks like with pre-made themes.

Where to Find It

Getting to the Theme Manager is very straightforward:

  1. Log in to the Horilla HRMS dashboard
  2. Click on the Settings (marked as 1) icon
  3. Go to Theme Manager(marked as 2)
  4. Click on Color Theme

You’ll see a list of themes displayed as cards. Each one shows a preview of its colors.

Just click on any theme to apply it.

What the Theme Manager Actually Does

The Theme Manager does the following:

  • Change the application’s global color style
  • Apply a new look instantly
  • Use pre-designed professional color schemes

That’s it. Simple as can be. No fancy color choosers, no complicated settings. Just clean, simple themes.

Why This Matters

You might ask, “Why does changing colors matter?”

Here’s the simple answer:

  • You spend hours inside the system
  • Colors affect comfort and readability
  • A better-looking UI feels easier to use

Even small changes like changing from bright red to calm blue can make a big difference during long working hours.

Available Themes in Horilla HRMS

Horilla provides a list of themes that can be selected from. Each theme has its own style of colors. However, all themes are built with clarity and usability in mind.

The following are all the themes available in Horilla HRMS:

  1. Coral Red Theme (Default)
A balanced and familiar theme with warm red tones. Suitable for general day-to-day usage.
  2. Amber Glow Theme
Uses soft golden shades. Provides a slightly warm and welcoming feel.
  3. Crimson Wine Theme
A darker red-based theme with stronger contrast. Gives a more bold appearance.
  4. Emerald Mint Theme
Light green tones that feel fresh and easy on the eyes. Works well for long working hours.
  5. Forest Green Theme
Deeper green shades that create a calm and focused environment.
  6. Indigo Night Theme
Dark blue tones with a clean and professional look. A common choice for office environments.
  7. Navy Steel Theme
A mix of navy and gray shades that gives a structured and formal appearance.
  8. Ocean Blue Theme
Soft blue tones that are simple and comfortable for continuous use.
  9. Purple Professional Theme
Uses purple accents to add a slightly creative and modern touch.
  10. Rose Gold Theme
Light pink and rose shades that give a smooth and refined appearance.
  11. Slate Gray Theme
Neutral gray tones with a minimal and distraction-free design.
  12. Sunset Orange Theme
Bright orange tones that make the interface feel more energetic.
  13. Teal Corporate Theme
A combination of teal and cyan shades that creates a clean, modern look.

How It Works

When you select a theme:

  • The system instantly updates colors
  • Buttons, menus, and highlights change
  • No manual reload is required

Everything happens smoothly in the background.

Benefits of Using the Theme Manager

  • Makes the UI Comfortable
Some themes are easier on the eyes, especially during long hours.
  • Keeps Things Fresh
Switching themes can make the system feel new again.
  • Improves Readability
    Certain color combinations improve clarity.
  • No Technical Knowledge Needed
Anyone can use it, no developer required.

What You Can’t Do (For Now)

To keep things simple, the Theme Manager currently:

  1. Does not support custom colors
  2. Does not allow theme editing
  3. Does not have per-user customization

You can only choose from the available preset themes.

And honestly, that’s intentional; it keeps the experience clean and consistent.

Best Practices

A few small tips can improve your experience:

  • Stick to one theme instead of changing frequently
  • Choose softer colors if you work long hours
  • Avoid very bright themes if they strain your eyes

The Theme Manager in Horilla HRMS is designed with one goal:

  •  Keep things simple while improving usability.

You don’t need complicated settings to make a system look good.

Sometimes, just picking the right theme is enough.
